The movement for trails in Oldham County began when citizens began to show more concern about the lack of “connectivity” between Oldham’s many communities and realized opportunities for many multi-modal transportation. Citizens, along with Planning & Zoning staff and elected officials, joined forces to develop a group that would spawn other similar groups in the arena of Greenways and Trails in Oldham County.
Here are some of the “historic” events that have taken place since Greenways of Oldham County began:

2003 |
Greenways interurban Master Plan was adopted by Oldham County Fiscal Court and the historic L&N railroad train depot renovation completed to serve as the interurban Greenway "trailhead". |

2007 |
The Oldham County Planning and Zoning Department has announced that it has received a fund grant to contract for a Oldham County Greenways Master Plan.
The Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) Transportation Policy Committee approved a $284,000 grant request submitted by the Oldham County Planning and Zoning Department for the Commerce Parkway segment of the county Greenways initiative. The grant was for transportation enhancement funding for a 3.2 mile shared-use Oldham County Bike and Pedestrian Trail along Commerce Parkway in LaGrange. |

2008 |
Phase 1 of the 1.5 mile trails in Wendell Moore Park completed and Phase 1 (1.2 miles) of 3 mile multi-use Commerce Parkway trails began. |

Several sidewalk projects completed and Phase 1 of Commerce Parkway trail opened. |

Phase 2 of the 3 mile Commerce Parkway trail completed. Received grant approval for the Interurban bridge over Interstate 71 in Buckner. |
